We'll confirm your appointment with important preparation guidelines to follow beforehand — following these carefully helps ensure an accurate scan.
Arrive for your scan and fill in our Thermocheck® forms (also available in advance). These ask about your medical history and any medications or supplements — kept strictly private and confidential. Please arrive 15 minutes early.
Your scan takes place in our dedicated room with a female technician. The room is cooled to around 18°C for accuracy — we take an initial set of images, followed by a 10-minute cooling period, during which your technician explains the process and answers any questions.
Your Thermocheck® report is prepared within 5 working days and emailed to you, reviewed by a Thermocheck-qualified doctor. It gives you a score for each breast with your temperature measurements, clear explanatory text, and your recommended next steps.

As a guide: normal results are typically followed up with an annual scan, borderline results with a 6-month follow-up, and any flagged results with closer monitoring at 6 months — your report will confirm exactly what's recommended for you.

A 2018 meta-analysis of 18 clinical trials found thermography has high sensitivity (pooled estimate of 85%) and a high negative predictive value (91%) for detecting breast cancer. The authors conclude it could be a useful addition to current screening tools.
A retrospective study of over 58,000 thermography scans (2007–2017) found thermography identified 85% of confirmed breast cancers. The detection rate was higher for thermography alone than for mammography alone.
A 2016 study followed 875 patients over 10 years who had normal initial mammograms but abnormal thermograms. Of those with persistent thermographic abnormalities, 28% developed cancer within 5 years. The authors conclude thermography improves early risk prediction.
A 2022 systematic review of thermography combined with artificial intelligence found AI-assisted thermography can achieve up to 97% sensitivity and specificity, and the technology is rapidly evolving to improve accuracy.
A 2020 study combined thermography with mammography to screen women under 50, who often have denser breasts. Combined screening reached 91% sensitivity versus 83% for mammography alone, adding value in detecting early cancers.
